Job Description

AWS Snowball is looking for engineers to help design and develop the next generation of Snowball products and services. AWS Snowball is changing how customers interact with the cloud and who those customers are. Both as a highly secure, petabyte-scale data transport solution and a temporary on-site implementation of key AWS services, Snowball is an appliance and service that can transfer up to petabytes of data into and out of the AWS Cloud and provide key AWS Cloud services to remote locations; industry response has been tremendous. We are building new products that expand who and how the Snowball devices can enable cloud services and storage to solve their problems. We are looking for Software Development Engineers (SDEs) like you to help us design and build these innovative new products.

The AWS Snowball products are highly secure, shippable devices that; are able to survive 8.5+ G drops, have their own weather proof shipping container, and have onboard sensors and an integrated display to make it easy for customers to adopt and use. The design of the hardware, software, and system is built to robust, resilient, and performant, to provide our customers an easy and effective solution for their data and local compute challenges.

As a key technical leader on the team you will

* Design and Develop Algorithms/Systems/Services: We build algorithms and systems that operate at scale. Our systems range from providing easy to use, high capacity service to robust systems to provide high availability to organizations in remote locations or on the move.
* Explore and innovate: We are constantly meeting with customers and innovating on new and existing products to address new challenges and requirements to integrate with emerging technologies and provide AWS solutions to areas and industries outside the current model of a cloud customer.
* Design, develop, and improve features and devices for the Snowball products. You will learn about software, hardware, and cloud solutions while we benefit from your ideas and knowledge. This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse set of technologies while expanding your technical depth and breadth.
* Measure and Improve: We identify new ways to measure the effectiveness of our solutions and ways to improve them. We identify areas of improvement in our frameworks, tools, processes, services, and strive to make them better. We continually evaluate our success metrics and evolve our reporting systems.

The goal of our work in the hardware, software, and logistic systems design is to bring AWS anywhere and everywhere in the world while making it easy to move enterprise size data and workflows to and from the cloud quickly, securely, and cost-effectively, which is a huge challenge for many customers, with increasing amount of data being generated every day.
