About Amazon

Job Description

"It's always Day 1 at Amazon," is a motivating statement that requires persistence and an investment in people with good judgment. Amazon realizes that good decisions require training and feedback. Amazon Global Learning and Development (GLD) is seeking a passionate and pragmatic software engineer to help us build a new product for simulated decision making. You will help drive technical decisions, design and develop a new simulation product for decision making that will be used by senior leaders in the company. This is an opportunity to shape an exciting new space from the ground up. In this role, you will create and own features for a new product portfolio in the rapidly growing domain of enterprise and personalized learning.

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) for Decision Simulation you will be responsible for the feature design, development, test, and deployment of components for a new platform for simulated decision making. As an SDE for Decision Simulation, you are responsible for setting a high bar throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You will collaborate closely with other software developers, data engineers, data scientists, and learning scientists.

You are experienced developing business simulations that handle multiple inputs and event types (e.g. financial, inventory, personnel and other kinds of information). You are familiar with (and can learn) the basic patterns of expert system pipelines. You will be working closely with education scientists and domain experts. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing distributed simulation systems, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically. We're working hard, having fun, making history; come join us!
