Job Description

This role supports the Software/Firmware RF team within the Microsoft Surface development organization. The team provides tools, applications, device drivers, and all other software and firmware to support Surface wireless technologies, including WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, GPS, and Xbox Wireless accessories.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Excellent C/C++ design and coding skills
* Ability to quickly ramp-up on complex and unfamiliar code
* Ability to debug systemic issues and hardware as well as software problems.
* Ability to design scalable APIs
* Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven

Some domestic and international travel may be necessary.

The specific development role is to provide utilities to facilitate manufacturing and testing of these technologies, including:

* Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) mitigation design/implementation
* LTE Modem manufacturing tools, including modem provisioning and SIM/eSIM validation
* LTE Modem power table conversion/generation scripts
* GPS and LTE Rx power detection tools
* WiFi and Bluetooth development and manufacturing tools

The key software technologies used are a combination of industry standard computing technologies based on the Microsoft platform, internal Microsoft proprietary technology, and external third-party open and proprietary technologies.

Specific Microsoft industry standard technologies include:

* Visual Studio development environment
* TFS bug tracking and source control
* Microsoft Outlook
* Microsoft Excel
* Microsoft Windows Device Driver and Sensor/WLAN/WWAN interfaces

Key internal proprietary technologies include:

* Internal Microsoft Surface planning/development/release processes

External third-party technologies

* GIT source control
* Proprietary third-party LTE modem development and manufacturing tools
* Proprietary third-party WiFi/BT development and manufacturing tools
