Want to help change the way customers around the world stay informed and up to date on news and current affairs? We're building voice-first products and systems that enable customers to hear and see news content wherever they are, simply by asking for it (literally). We'd love your help in building systems that help us solve this challenging problem.

Alexa News keeps customers informed about the world around them by seamlessly integrating the news they want most into their everyday lives. We build news experiences across multiple devices, including the Echo Family, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet. These experiences touch every aspect of news, from casual consumption ("Alexa, what's the news?") to answering specific questions about current events ("Alexa, what's the latest with the election?").

When a customer asks a question related to news, the Alexa News Search and Discovery Team finds the right content or answer for customers from a large number of sources. As a developer on the team, you will build software that enriches and stores content given to us from newsrooms ad content sources across the globe. You're also responsible for ensuring that other teams within Amazon can search and return the same news and content to deliver any new customer experience customer want.

As a Software Developer on the team, you'll be responsible for taking on challenging technical and customer problems, and building systems and products to meet their needs. You're pragmatic, and enjoy spending time with your team mates solving hard problems. You build distributed systems, and design for the long term. You have a strong sense of ownership, and like to own and operate your software end-to-end. You also strive for operational improvements by pushing you and your team to adopt best practices while continually learning from any misses.
