Job Description

The Contract Management team has a software development engineer position open for creative and independent engineers with a passion for web services to define and build Amazon's next-generation order management platform.

With thousands of discrete applications running in a distributed environment, Amazon.com continues to push the limit of Service Oriented Architecture. The Contract Management team is driving key innovations in this arena; it's our job to make sure that all these applications come together to form a platform upon which web developers can build e-Commerce websites. We are the engine that powers the Checkout and Order Management for Amazon's and partners' sites. We are in the process of rolling out a major paradigm shift that will provide an unprecedented level of extensibility for our business teams. Our long term goal is to extend our platform such that any developer, anywhere, who wants to build an e-Commerce site will use our system. The next generation of e-commerce sites will be built on our technology, and we need sharp people to define the vision and build the systems that will power that growth.

As a member of the Contract Management Platform team, you will pioneer new architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a dynamically scalable (think: cloud computing), rock-solid platform solution using object-oriented C/C++ and Java on various UNIX-flavored platforms. We are a fast-paced environment, using agile methodology and lightweight SOA design patterns. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and expect developers and management alike to take a high level of ownership for the product vision, technical architecture and project delivery.
