Northrop Grumman's Army Knowledge Online (AKO) program is seeking a security-minded Software Developer to join our team in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Join the team that is hosting high-visibility government web applications and working closely with various offices in the United States Army.

This requisition may be filled as either a level 2 or level 3.

Job Duties:

* Ensures that websites are available to the desired audience with appropriate links and security


* Development responsibilities will include performing code reviews, conducting vulnerability testing, and working with version control and change management systems to release code to production


* Systems Administration responsibilities will include maintaining web and database servers, and working with web developers to secure, optimize, and test hosting configurations and troubleshooting performance issues


* Provide on-call support and occasionally travel to customer sites



Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

* A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree/ an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement


* Up-to-date knowledge and strong experience with PHP, related frameworks, and Content Management Systems (e.g. Symfony, Drupal, Laravel)


* Self-supportive debugging skills including PHP, JavaScript, Cross-browser and OS/Cross-browser compatibility


* An active CompTIA Security CE (or equivalent IAT Level II baseline certification) or CISSP


* Must have or be able to obtain Army Approved Computing Environment Certificate (CEC) within 6 months of starting employment


* An Interim Secret security clearance (or higher) to start with the ability to obtain a Secret once aboard

* Up-to-date knowledge and strong experience with PHP, related frameworks, and Content Management Systems (e.g. Symfony, Drupal, Laravel)


* Self-supportive debugging skills including PHP, JavaScript, Cross-browser and OS/Cross-browser compatibility

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with security vulnerability scanning and penetration testing of websites manually and using automated tools (e.g. Fortify, Burp Suite, Skipfish)


* Experience working in a government environment


* Experience with W3C Web Standards and knowledge of 508c compliance


* Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, Azure)


* Strong experience working with Linux


* Automation experience using BASH, PHP, Ruby, or Python


* Version control experience with SVN and GIT


* Experience with code integration and improving security of 3rd party APIs (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)


* Experience with cross-browser HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, multi-platform desktop and mobile website development


* Experience setting up and customizing a local web development environment


* Experience writing and editing content for the web


* The ability to assist in gathering requirements and project specifications
