Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

About the Opportunity:

You will be on the Moat Pre-Impression team, which builds various products to reduce fraud, protect brand reputation, and improve end-user experience in online advertisements.

You will help build data pipelines that process terabytes of logs per day, and low-latency API services used in making realtime programmatic ad decisions in under 10 milliseconds. Your work will help advertisers avoid bots, fake news and distasteful websites.

You will face challenging problems such as infrastructure reliability, scalability, low latency, and statistical accuracy. In addition to your own work, you will mentor junior engineers and regularly participate in code reviews.

About You:

3-5 years of full-time experience.

You have a strong Computer Science background, either in college or self-taught.

You're comfortable writing backend code, querying relational databases, and designing ETL pipelines. You're comfortable mentoring junior engineers and performing code reviews.

You care about code quality, architecting resilient infrastructure, and following best practices.

You're familiar with many AWS services like EC2, S3, ECS, and RDS.

Bonus: You have experience with Python, Docker, Linux, PostgreSQL, and Terraform.

Bonus: You've used Spark, Hadoop or some other big data processing framework.
