Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Software Development Engineer - Oracle Public Cloud, Infrastructure-as-a-Service

LOCATION: Seattle, WA

Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Group is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, and security services.

Lifecycle Services owns building and lifecycle for all the services at OCI. Software engineers in our group work on the functionality enabling all of OCI's engineering teams to provision, build, test, deploy, configure, and remediate their services. Our software makes the lives of every OCI engineer easier; delivering services to our cloud quickly, safely, reliably, and securely.

We're looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services.

As an ideal candidate, you will have a strong passion for building and managing large scale, highly available services. Service oriented architectures come easily to you. You are results driven and thrive in a collaborative environment that is in start-up mode. You are excited to enable developers to follow the best practices (or invent them when none exist!).

Minimum Qualifications

* BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
* 5 years experience as a software development engineer
* Excellent coding skills
* Understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with building common standard frameworks
* Working experience within a Linux based environment
* Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure
