Job Description

Invitae is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer whom will help operations scale durably while increasing product velocity, and further deliver on our mission to bring genetic information into mainstream medical practice. You will respond to production bottlenecks, investigate their causes, and engineer lasting solutions. Our ideal candidate is a collected and organized problem solver with an eye for automation, and equally excellent communication skills. What you will do:

* Develop site monitoring and alerting
* Report performance of operations
* Communicate with Users, Computing, and Development teams in the event of an incident
* Participate in balanced on-call rotation
* Troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively
* Facilitate root cause investigations
* Recognize automation opportunities
* Develop troubleshooting playbooks when necessary
* Develop tools to enable prevention, detection, and mitigation

Who you are:

* Experience with one or more scripting languages for automating common tasks in a UNIX environment (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python)
* Prior experience administering and supporting servers and applications in AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
* Experience with relational databases
* Experience in a project / program / product management capacity
* Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
* Good team player, but able to work effectively independently
* Service an interrupt-driven system
* Preferred: Familiarity with Atlassian solutions
* Preferred: Experience with NoSQL
* Preferred: Lab and LIMS experience
* Preferred: Experience with Python and web programming frameworks (eg. Django, Flask, ORM)
* Preferred: Experience with DevOps or related fields (eg. Docker, Fabric, version control)
* Preferred: Experience with Javascript and well established MV* frameworks (eg. React, Backbone, etc)
