Service Reliability Engineer Imgix

Job Description

imgix is looking for an experienced Service Reliability Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role, you will work closely with other members of the Infrastructure team to build and operate the high performance, high availability infrastructure that powers image delivery for some of the largest sites on the Internet.

The imgix Infrastructure team is responsible for building and operating the core imgix service and for encouraging operational best practices in the larger engineering organization. We seek experienced engineers who have strong professional skill sets and who are passionate about making positive contributions to the evolution of the company as a whole.

We are looking for:

* Experience building and operating large-scale consumer-facing production environments with a focus on service quality, performance, and uptime.
* In-depth knowledge of at least one of: CDNs, logging and metrics pipeline, monitoring, HTTP, high-performance web services, customer-facing APIs, infrastructure security.
* Nice to have (but not required) experience in one or more of: Ansible, Prometheus, Grafana, HAProxy, Varnish, Python.

* Build and operate highly reliable and performant distributed systems at scale.
* Observe and measure the imgix infrastructure for performance, reliability and correctness.
* Contribute expertise towards architectural planning and ensure that the company builds sustainable services that meet our objectives while leveraging the right tools and frameworks.
* Foster and promote operational awareness throughout the larger engineering organization.
* Actively participate in the review and testing process for our production services.
