Position Overview

Autodesk's AutoCAD user experience team seeks a strong interaction designer, who is well trained in design, illustrates an ability to apply business goals and user priorities to design work, and possesses an understanding of both workflow and user tasks. In this role you'll report to the User Experience Design Manager and partner with the Product Management and Engineering teams to help build new and compelling software for the world's best engineers, designers, and architects.

Responsibilities

* Create user interfaces of key customer experiences and projects, concentrating on end-to-end scenarios and top user tasks


* Communicate solutions and designs through appropriate documentation such as text, diagrams, illustrations/visualizations, and/or prototypes


* Resolve any implementation issues that affect the design


* Consult and present user experience designs to others in the division and company


* Work with peer interaction designers in the creation and maintenance of user experience design tools and style guides


* Compare, contrast, and prioritize among alternative approaches to meet design objectives, using judgment to suggest optimal solutions to design problems that balance customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities


* Interacting with customers


* You will be interacting with customers through various channels and avenues and will always lookout for opportunities to learn from them on how they use our products and how as a designer you can make it easier for them to use our products


* Partnering with other functions


* You will be imbedded in product teams, partnering with product management, program management, software development, testing and learning content development


* You will work closely with these functions and act as the voice of customers


* Creating user experience design specifications. You will be responsible for understanding the user requirements and engineering capabilities and create design specifications to enable the implementation of products


* Driving special projects and programs


* On behalf of the AutoCAD user experience team, you'll lead special projects and programs that sometimes go beyond the scope of creating designs, requiring cross-company collaboration on Design Thinking initiatives



Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's or equivalent in product/interaction design or graphic design or related field


* Candidates with architecture, engineering or computer science degree with strong design work experience are welcome too


* 4 years of industry design experience on corporate, software, web, or mobile solutions


* Working knowledge of Agile development processes


* Strong portfolio/samples available for viewing


* Proficiency in prototyping: Photoshop, Flash, Visio, or similar tools


* Experience with XAML, Expression, VB, Dreamweaver, Flex, InDesign, Director or other innovative Adobe, Windows and Mac design tools a big bonus

* You are able to collaborate seamlessly with developers, user researchers, peer interaction designers, learning content developers, and to accept input from a variety of other corporate peers and sponsors
