Job Description

The Inventory Planning and Control (IPC) Buying team is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join our team as a leader in building cutting edge supply chain solutions. IPC owns Amazon's global inventory management systems and the IPC Buying team sits at the center of these systems. Our systems decide what, when, where, and how much we should buy to meet Amazon's business goals and delight our customers. Our team of over 100, manages millions of items worth billions of dollars world-wide and our multiple systems span use cases from groceries and clothing, to imports. Our systems are built entirely in-house with the goal of automating the most cutting edge supply chain planning and optimization problems. We are on the forefront of supply chain thought leadership and work with some of the best research scientists and software developers in the industry.

We seek a visionary and polished product leader to act as a highly visible leader within the automated supply chain space. This effort is guaranteed to push the boundaries of how Amazon manages product ordering. The successful candidate will own the team efforts to coordinate and unify the roadmaps and technical direction across multiple complex buying systems. You will identify opportunities to converge overlapping technical efforts, drive the long term strategy and roadmap solutions that get us there and own the communication, coordination and execution of this vision. This role is inherently cross-functional: you will work closely with engineering, product management, research science, operations, and finance to bring products to market, develop and grow business opportunities, and enhance our customer experience. As our lead program strategist, you will define use cases, analyze the potential customer and financial implications, select the most promising ideas, prioritize them relative to key success metrics, and create a cohesive roadmap. You are process-oriented, organized, curious and thrive in an environment where priorities shift fast and ambiguity is ever present. You know how to be scrappy and also operate as a highly trusted leader within a larger team and business.

Successful candidates will enjoy diving deep into data, have outstanding analytical skills, excel at developing short-term and long-term strategies, as well as leading executive level reviews. You will thrive in a highly collaborative, creative, and fast-paced environment. You must have the experience and capability to prepare documentation for senior executives and align your roadmap with Amazon SCOT's strategic objectives. Given this, the individual must have a solid track record of leadership, building a vision, technical software expertise and leveraging the talents of the team around them to execute against goals.
