Job Description

Bethesda.net is seeking an experienced technical leader for our site reliability engineering team. This group focuses on the core tenants of site reliability engineering, and is accountable for the reliability, observability, scalability, and efficiency of the live systems of our digital publishing platform. This role will provide both technical and management leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a background in both software engineering as well as operations, has operated and supported live products at high scale, and have a passion for understanding complex systems and continuously improving them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Manage and provide technical leadership to the site reliability teams
* Influence and enable product development teams to deliver services that are maintainable, reliable, scalable, and efficient.
* Participate in strategic planning session to establish a long-term technical roadmap
* Help establish a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
* Ensure adherence to operational and security governance

REQUIREMENTS:

* Experience managing multiple engineering teams
* Possess a strong technical background and deep knowledge of software engineering principles, exceptional problem solving, design, programming, and testing skills
* Experience with infrastructure and configuration management in a cloud hosted environment
* Experience with container orchestrators (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS ECS, Docker Swarm, etc.)
* Experience supporting live systems at very high scale
* Pragmatic approach to providing technical solutions that solve business needs
* Excellent written and verbal skills
