Senior Systems Manager

Location: Warren, NJ

The Senior Systems Manager will be responsible for formulating the scope and objectives of information systems, leading their design, evaluation, implementation and support of package application software. This position will devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems using information systems technology, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the equipment, operating environment, and form of desired results. This position will analyze and revise system logic to support business requirements. The Senior Systems Manager must be competent to work at the highest technical level on all phases of the systems development life cycle, while effectively planning, directing controlling and reporting progress for assigned projects. The Senior Systems Manager will direct activities of the Technical support staff.

Accountabilities

Applications Architecture Design & Planning: (1) Utilize a solid understanding of business practices and current data/systems and incorporate that knowledge into the design and enhancement of information systems and to participate in planning future development: (a) conduct evaluation of available information technology by analyzing and testing the capabilities of new software under consideration in relation to functional, technical and systems integration requirements (b) incorporate into systems design an in-depth understanding of interactions between various information systems (c) on an ongoing basis, monitor systems, data and documentation and recommend enhancements to assure that they remain current, flexible, and responsible to present and anticipated business conditions. (d) develop functional requirements and technical design for integrating external data with existing data and systems; participate in planning for future requirements (e) participate in planning for future data storage, data processing and staffing requirements. 20%

Maintenance & Support of Existing Systems: (1) Assure integrity and continuity of assigning data and information systems, including applications packaged software. (2) Provide on-going technical support and problem resolution for on-line and reporting system, query usage, and databases. (3) Coordinates with Data Center staff to develop, schedule and maintain production jobs; work with Data Center and Technical Support Services staffs to develop and improve standards and procedures designed to minimize problems and maximize reliability and efficiency of production jobs. (4) Provide and coordinate on-call support for production systems (5) Provide training and guidance to junior staff. 35%

User Support: (1) Provide business consulting to user areas to assess business needs and to group meetings to achieve departmental standards for applications development and support and personal performance. (2) Recognize and regard exemplary efforts of individuals and teams so as to encourage staff members personal and professional growth and contributions. (3) Provide guidance and coach staff members in the resolution of technical and business problems. (4) Optimize the available staff resources by identifying staff opportunities that promote individuals within or outside of the Information Technology department. (5) Delegate responsibilities appropriate to development of the individuals and achievement of the project goals. 25%

Project Management: (1) Devise project plans in accordance with SDLC that effectively set time tables, budgets and resource assignments. (2) Track actual progress against the plan to manage the project resources and tasks (3) Work with user management to review and prioritize projects to plan a rolling six month horizon of projects. (4) Control the quality of all systems by evaluating the effectiveness of existing and proposed projects from a functional and technical perspective (5) Apply technical and business knowledge and experience to achieve project objectiveAdministration: (1) Conduct staff performance reviews according to corporate standards; set annual goals to achieve personal and professional growth; review progress at regular intervals so as to provide feedback and appraise the individual of their status. (2) Communicate to your supervisor, in both verbal and written media, to effectively report progress and to document meetings and to provide special status. (3) Adhere to appropriate corporate policies and procedures as they relate to systems and personnel; identify and recommend improvements as appropriate. (4) Participate in the corporate budget process to provide input and to support the fiscal operating objectives for hardware, software, training, and staffing. (5) Respond promptly to special inquiries and assignments as required by the corporation or your manager. (6) Manage daily operations so as to contain costs, maximize the effectiveness of resources and achieve stated objectives (7) Provide leadership in terms of directing the staff, users and outside contacts towards the stated corporate goals. 10%

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience Please give details of the knowledge, education, formal qualifications, specialised training or experience required for the job. Indicate whether requirement is essential or desirable.

Essential

* Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining Microsoft SQL & Oracle databases and database applications. Any experience with Epicor, SAP, Dynamics 365 or a leading ERP and CRM solution would be considered a plus.
* Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience supporting a large or mid-size company, preferably in the manufacturing or distribution industry.
* Knowledge of all aspects of windows computing; LAN/WAN technologies, protocols and diagnostic tools; network topologies; network operating systems; communications; databases, graphics, word processing and general office productivity tools.
* Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in computer sciences, information technology or related field from 4-year accredited institution.

Desirable

* Epicor version 9 or 10 implementation and support experience.
* SAP ECC or B1 implementation and support experience.
* Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service, Fields Service, or Marketing module implementation and support experience.
* Experience implementing and maintaining Microsoft SQL databases and applications.
