Summary: Provides hands-on tier 2/3 technical support for the systems, servers, storage, application, and end user support. Directly assists the Enterprise Architecture Director in development, production, and operational activities within the Information Technology Department by performing the following duties personally, with junior administrators or by overseeing consultants. The Senior Systems Administrator works primarily at the Chicago downtown location but is required to be able to work at multiple locations within the metropolitan area and occasionally out of state sites, as needed. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Works directly with the Enterprise Architecture Director in the execution of systems operational and development projects.
* Manages systems infrastructure including physical servers, virtual servers, and underlying SAN storage. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Servers (2008 - 2016), VMWare v 6.5 and higher, EMC and Nimble Storage systems is must.
* Manages data backup solutions for physical and virtual servers including scheduling backups and managing data recovery functions.
* Manages organizational email solution including O365 hybrid system with Exchange 2010, email archival system, and spam filter. Must have hands-on experience with O365 email, AD Connect and ADFS.
* Advises the Director and works with network team to develop and manage a sound Disaster Recovery Solution for all the critical systems.
* Provides hands-on support of network services including Active Directory, Print, File, DNS and DHCP.
* Manages Microsoft and third party security patching for all the servers and workstations. Must be available to work after-hours and/or weekends for Production Servers patching and any critical issues.
* Manages Citrix Cloud-based MDM for secure email on phones in addition to Citrix remote desktop solutions.
* Provides end user support for hardware, software, and network configuration problems in cooperation with desktop support staff.
* Provides internal tier-2 support for Junior Systems Administrator and desktop support staff.
* Recommends and develops plans for systems development and operations.
* Works closely with consultants, technical personnel, and third-party vendors.
* Assists with documentation of procedures and standards related to systems hardware and software acquisition, use, support, and security.
* Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems.
* Consults with department managers to develop system solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
* Installs and tests software upgrades and hardware configurations.
* Maintains system maintenance, performance, and inventory records.
* Develops internal reporting capacities to support monitoring and evaluation of system usage, maintenance, life-cycle, licensing, maintenance contracts, and warranties.
* Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Will lead and/or manage small project teams as needed. May include cross-training, planning, monitoring, managing / assigning work tasks and activities to other team members.

* Education and/or Experience: Six years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree and four years experience; Must include experience in a multi-site environment.

* Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: The Senior Systems Administrator is expected to engage in regular professional development. One or more of the following network certifications is required:
* Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
* Microsoft Solutions Developer (MCSD)
* Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
* VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
* EMC Infrastructure Storage Associate (EMCISA)
* EMC Storage Administrator (EMCSA)


* Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal customers, and the general public.
* Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and area.
* Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
