GENERAL SUMMARY: The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design and support of the organizations IT Infrastructure. The position will work closely with the SR IT Project Engineer to define system architecture and provide vision, problem anticipation, and problem-solving ability to the organization. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks and must have the ability to support both legacy and new technology. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create detailed project plans, work closely with other team members and work with deadlines. #FitForYou

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Server Environment

* The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's Vmware environment, Physical servers, operating systems, SQL servers, email servers, web servers and server hardware
* Detect, diagnose, and repair server related problems on Windows servers and Windows desktop systems.
* Detect, diagnose, and repair Linux and Apache related problems
* Perform system backups on internal and external physical and virtual servers.
* Design and support server system(s) and supporting software
* Install, maintain and monitor corporate Anti-virus servers
* Analyze and resolve problems associated with server hardware, NT and applications software.
* Design, order and build new servers
* Design document and test Disaster recovery plans
* Recommend and schedule repairs
* Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
* Must have a strong working knowledge of HP servers
* Must have a strong working knowledge of NetBackup software
* Must have experience working with Microsoft SQL server
* Must have experience working with and supporting EMC storage



VMware ESX Environment

* The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration and overall maintenance of the VMware ESX servers. This includes planning, documenting, implementing and maintaining Vmware Hosts and virtual servers
* Use VMware VirtualCenter to provision, monitor and manage the virtualized IT environment
* Dynamically allocate and balancing computing resources with VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS).
* Continuously and automatically optimize virtual machines within resource pools with VMware Vmotion
* Configure and maintain disk storage on the EMC SAN
* Monitor Virtual server resource utilization and make recommendations to improve performance and reliability.
* Install, test and deploy Vmware patch levels and upgrades

Virtual Desktop environment

* The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration design and support of the corporate virtual desktop environment. This includes planning, documenting, implementing and maintaining Vmware View hosts and clients as well as Citrix solutions.
* Understanding of PVS and MCS
* Use VMware VirtualCenter to provision, monitor and manage the virtual desktop environment
* Identify and test the ability to virtualize legacy applications using Vmware Thinapp
* Identify and test the ability to virtualize legacy applications using Citrix
* Install, test and deploy Vmware patch levels and upgrades
* Provide bulleted list of specific essential duties -- list should be comprehensive enough to provide understanding of position -- but not overly detailed
* Understanding of PVS and MCS

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 3-5 years of experience in the IT field or in a related area and is familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
* Microsoft Exchange Server Certification for version 2010 -- Or equivalent work experience.
* VMWare Certification -- ongoing training and documentation.
* Successfully pass the current VCP certification exam or show equivalent work experience.
* Microsoft MCSE certification is preferred
* Bachelor Degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent relevant work experience and/or hardware/software certification(s)
