This role requires a self-motivated, team player with strong communication and organizational skills that will be expected to demonstrate full ownership of assigned tasks, in addition to broad and advanced technical skills. The candidate must have strong problem solving skills, an ability to analyze complex multivariate problems and use a systematic approach to gain quick resolution.

The successful candidate should have an exceptional technical background and extensive experience in complex, heterogeneous networking environments.

Exceptional teamwork is crucial for this position and the selected individual will be in constant and extensive communication and collaboration with other groups and team members, including Product Development, Project Management, Server development, Quality Assurance, Documentation, Release Engineering, Helpdesk support, and other remote locations.

Required Skills

KEYWORDS: PKI, Unix, Solaris, Linux, VM, LAMP, Java

* Minimum 15 years consulting or industry experience with systems administration and IT security
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
* Proficiency in Linux and Solaris administration, including but not limited to: installation and configuration, shell scripting, backups, patching, account administration, and file system capacity planning and management
* Ability to quickly and efficiently stand up new virtual machines (VMs), on XenServer and/or VMWare ESXi, utilizing a repeatable process
* Experience supporting web applications utilizing the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache web server, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP) and Java applications running on Apache Tomcat. JBOSS experience is a plus.
* Experience with Bacula backup software and Dell PowerVault tape system.
* Experience with SELinux and security hardening of the Linux operating system to Center for Internet Security (CIS) and/or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards
* Experience with the Solaris Basic Security Module (BSM) and security hardening of the Solaris operating system to Center for Internet Security (CIS) and/or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards for the maintaining of legacy systems.
* Experience with Apache, PHP and a database independent APIs
* Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills, utilizing native tools, log and monitoring trend analysis, and critical thinking to perform root cause analysis
* Experience with SSL/TLS enabled applications/protocols (HTTPS, SSH, LDAPS, etc.) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
* Database administration to include installation, configuration, implementation, and maintenance
* Ability to perform bare metal recovery of servers and VMs
* Experience with digital certificates, certificate authorities, and/or smartcard technology

Desirable Skills

* Familiarity with high availability and load balanced applications, utilizing F5 appliances
* Firewall, router, and switch administration
* Comfortable working in a configuration management environment
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of conveying complex ideas to non-technical people, as well as training fellow team members on new projects and technologies
* Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for tasks; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
* Document designs and scope of projects in a clear, concise, and accurate manner

Duties

* Support weekly, monthly and quarterly operational tasks, including but not limited to compliance scans, monthly offsite backup and recovery operations, audit and intrusion detection data processing, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) analysis, providing availability and performance statistics to management, and physical inspections of data center security controls
* Perform regular server maintenance duties, including but not limited to: system and application backups, log management and rotation, patch management, user management, audit log processing and analysis, preventative maintenance, and performance monitoring/tuning
* Writing scripts to automate routine processes, such as backups, security checks, log archival, and file transfers
* Perform daily security checks and automate security processes wherever possible
* Install, configure and maintain new hardware and software for server and network support
* Support of ongoing development efforts, from rapid standup and troubleshooting, through quality assurance testing, and into production deployment and support
* Conduct disaster simulations for restoring servers, operating systems, applications, and databases in the event of a disruption, both minor and catastrophic
* Development and support of Continuity of Operations (COOP) at the corporate Disaster Recovery (DR) site
* Ensure high quality technical documents are produced quickly and accurately
* Evaluate new products and work closely with the Architecture team to provide technical support as a product expert
* Contribute to the evolving architecture of our Linux and storage services to meet changing requirements for scaling, reliability, performance, manageability, and price.
* Manage, deploy and configure infrastructure with Puppet or similar automation toolset.
* Maintain and update monitoring system to meet optimal notification standards of new and existing systems.
* Responsible for monitoring the Linux community and report on important changes/enhancements to the team.
* Identify hardware and software technical problems, storage and/or related system malfunctions, as well as upgrade and deploy SANs, NAS and related servers and services.
