Job summary

The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect for the Middleware Tiger team with extensive technical expertise in business process management, business rules and supporting technologies such as Java, Red Hat Middleware, and Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes. In this role, you will help us solve complex business problems of our customers using Red Hat's offerings and technologies. You'll work directly with our customers to understand their infrastructure and business needs and then present them with the most appropriate middleware solutions. You'll develop and conduct live demonstrations of our Red Hat Business Process Automation and Red Hat Decision Manager offerings and educate customers on their capabilities, while helping with the design and development of larger, more complex solutions. As a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect, you'll need to be knowledgeable in the middleware domain with recent, direct coding and architecture experience, and demonstrate excellent customer-facing skills. This role can be located anywhere in the Southeastern U.S. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

* Position and present Red Hat Middleware solutions with a focus on business process and rules
* Provide technical credibility to the Red Hat's sales team and educate prospective customers on the capabilities of our Red Hat Middleware software offerings
* Scope, design, develop, test, and present proof-of-concept applications using Red Hat's offerings
* Develop and conduct live demonstrations of our middleware offerings
* Design and articulate technology solutions for customer problems combining Red Hat Process Automation Manager or Red Hat Decision Manager solutions with other technologies already used by the customer
* Educate customers on the capabilities of Red Hat Middleware software offerings
* Assist sales teams in answering technical questions, possibly in the form of requests for proposals (RFPs) or requests for information (RFIs)
* Identify the appropriate technologies that solve customer problems
* Contribute to the Red Hat Middleware offerings through documentation like wiki, quick-start guides, and whitepaper, or development, including demonstrations, bug fixes, enhancements, and suggestions
* Provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering teams on the direction of our offerings and customer applicability of their features

Required skills

* Background in consulting, enterprise architecture, presales, or sales engineering
* 5+ years of experience presenting technical solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
* 7+ years of experience with Java development
* 5+ years of experience working in system architecture with recent practical experience with business process management (BPM) software like Red Hat Process Automation Manager, jBPM, IBM BPM, Bonita, or Pegasystems, or business rules software like Red Hat Decision Manager, Drools, IBM iLog or IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM), or FICO Blaze Advisor
* 3+ years of experience with JEE development, working with tehnologies like Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP), WildFly, Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS), or IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
* Familiarity with Java development frameworks like Spring, Netflix OSS, Vert.x, or Play and other additional technologies such as Node.js, Ruby, PHP, Go, or .NET development
* Practical experience with application build automation tools like Apache Maven, Jenkins, and Git
* Motivated with proven experience learning new technologies and the ability to help others, especially those unfamiliar with Red Hat's solutions
* Willingness to travel up to 75%

The following are considered a plus:

* Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes skills, or experience with related technologies like Istio, Knative, operators, etc.
* Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) or public cloud provider experience using Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
* Technical writing and blogging skills
* Experience creating, documenting, and presenting solution architectures with clear linkages to business requirement inputs
* Cloud-native development experience
