Job Description

Design and build NuGet client - a central tool in Visual Studio and .NET Core development

The NuGet package manager and NuGet services are fundamental building blocks when developing for .NET Core, .NET Framework, and Azure. Our NuGet clients provide restore, pack, and other important package commands in Visual Studio and for build servers. The NuGet.org service hosts hundreds of thousands of packages provided by Microsoft and other developers worldwide. We focus on delivering these important packages to .NET developers, quickly and securely, while coding as an open source project ourselves. We are the cornerstone of a vibrant community.

The NuGet Client team builds and maintains all NuGet client code. NuGet usage continues to grow rapidly and now has nearly 15 billion package downloads. Our project is open source (hosted on GitHub) and integrates with Visual Studio, dotnet SDK, and msbuild. We support Windows, Linux and Mac environments. Our code needs to run well on .Net Core, .Net Framework, and Mono. Our team is diverse, with a fast-moving and highly collaborative culture where engineers are empowered to innovate and take ideas from design to deployment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Great problem solving, teamwork, and customer empath

Experience developing software using C#, C, or C++

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

Basic Qualifications:

5 years of experience developing commercial software

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
