Verba, a company of VitalSource LLC is hiring for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to our team in San Fran, CA. As a Senior Software Engineer for our Verba team in San Francisco, you would work in a beautiful exposed-brick office two blocks west of Union Square in downtown San Francisco. We are a small, open and friendly company. We currently use Ruby, Javascript (ES6) and Coffeescript, and layer on Rails, React, Backbone, Node, and MySQL but we're always open to using the best technology.

Key Responsibilities:

* Expand existing software
* Develop new software products from the ground up, staying true to our company's core values and needs while lending your own creativity to the mix.
* Focus on creating fault-tolerant programming.
* Create scalable, automated solutions.
* Work directly with support to solve customer problems.
* Write tests for existing and new code.
* Directing software development projects.
* Translate business requirements and objectives into technical applications and solutions.
* Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with pair programming
* Extensive experience with Javascript, ES6 or other programming languages
* Experience with TDD or BDD

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree OR directly related year for year experience
* 6 years software development experience
* 2-3 years of Rails experience
