Your Future Team

The Public Equity Strategies Group oversees a portfolio of external hedge funds and is building out capabilities for quantitative trading strategies and a factor-based allocation platform for external managers. The group will develop and trade proprietary systematic hedge fund strategies and give developers ample exposure to learn portfolio construction, factor attribution methods, systematic alternative risk premium strategies and alpha signal research.

AIG is looking to fill a role in its Public Equities Strategies Group, reporting to the Head of Public Equities and the Lead Technologist within the same group.

Your Contribution

The senior software engineer will be integral to the Public Equities quant research team, working hand-in-hand with quant researchers, equity analysts and the group's tech lead. Strong coding skills, practical sense for data structures and transfer, and intuition for the asset management data and computation practices will be prerequisites. Key to success in the role, however, will be vision and aptitude for creating disciplined, clean and modular architectures for expansion of systems and processes as the group's array of quantitative strategies and processes grows. Over time, candidates who show a knack will have the opportunity to work on projects in the capacity of quant researchers.

What we are looking for

Ideal candidates will be ambitious developers who excel in financial software development, seeking to gain knowledge and expertise in quantitative finance and data science. More specifically, he/she will:

* Have a solid background in software development and engineering
* Have a demonstrated track record in managing project deliveries to demanding timelines. Experience with the software development management applications (e.g., Altasian suite, Jira esp., or like systems) a plus
* Be able to help the Tech Lead maintain and develop the computational and network environment supporting the Public Equities Strategies Group, and be familiar with both Windows and Unix (Linux, Ubuntu, …), enterprise LANs or AWS
* Ability to cooperate with other IT professionals across AIG, outside the Public Equities business unit, to achieve development and operational efficiencies highly valued

Experience / Skill Requirements

We are seeking candidates with:

* 7-10 years commercial development experience, 4+ years in a bank, asset management or financial software (e.g., Bloomberg) environment
* Deep expertise in Python and relevant packages (Pandas, SciPy, NumPy, etc.)
* Some proficiency with web-based technologies (http, rest, html, JavaScript) needed
* Fluency with SQL and database design
* Proficiency with Java, C#, Matlab, R, Spark, or Tensorflow, etc. a plus
* High academic achievement including concentrated coursework in both computer science/software engineering and a quantitative field (engineering, mathematics, statistics or hard science)
