Job Description

The Team: Morningstar's structured credit research and ratings subsidiary (MCR) is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) that has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence in the structured finance market. This group aims to increase market transparency and provides the highest quality ratings through securities research, monitoring services, data, and technology solutions. The Role: The Senior Engineer will work closely with cross functional teams, QA teams and other development teams to ensure a timely and high-quality delivery. Will have to coordinate and work with the members in a global team. We are looking for an individual that can apply discipline, create solid software products and be accountable for deliverables. Responsibilities: Design and build stable, scalable products. Support and improve critical products and systems. Analyze and remediate production issues, build instrumentation and operational readiness into the systems architecture. Enforce good Agile practices like test-driven development and continuous integration. Apply DevOps practices in the area of continuous and automated deployment. Familiarity or desire to build and/or migrate, applications in the public cloud. Take ownership of the success of the team with a "gets things done" attitude; the ability to understand and leverage new technologies. Potentially wearing many hats including business analyst, DBA, and Developer. Exposure to financial services and Investment Management domain will be a plus. Exposure to Credit Rating domain will be a big plus. Requirements: A bachelor's in Computer Science or related, plus 5 years of experience in developing and supporting software products. Hands on experience with programming languages C#, ASP.net and JavaScript. Very strong experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), preferably Microsoft SQL server (SQL, PL/SQL, Stored Procs, DB Transactions, Temp Tables, Joins etc.) Should be able to write and decipher complex stored procs, fine-tune Databases, and troubleshoot DB issues. Very good hold of Microsoft Stack, IIS internals (web site hosting and fine tuning) Exposure to Java 8 will be a plus. Exposure to AWS tools and technologies will be a plus.
