Manassas, Virginia is situated in the Northern Virginia region surrounded by Prince William County and is about 30 miles west / southwest of Washington, DC. Manassas has a population of approximately 37,500 and is considered part of the Washington Metropolitan Area but it is still a bit of a ride to the west / southwest of DC and offers a suburban charm. Amtrak and the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) supply both regular and commuter rail service to the city and surrounding areas. Communities surrounding Manassas include Centreville, Gainesville, Bull Run, Yorkshire, Bristow, Nokesville, and Lake Ridge. Manassas and its surrounding communities offer the excitement of living near the capital region while also providing a more relaxed and scenic suburban setting.

Will be responsible for developing SW for real-time embedded systems on Submarine, Surveillance and Surface Ship programs. Will be expected to participate in all phases of SW development to include: high level design, detailed design, development, and Integration and Test. Will work very closely with an integrated functional team to ensure adherence to requirements through operational deployment. Could be called upon to work with H/W during setup and maintenance/debug efforts. Experience in Object Oriented Design using a UML tool is desired, as well as experience with Java. Any experience in GUI development is a plus.

Basic Qualifications:

Significant Java 8 experience

Mmultithreading, memory management

Working in Linux/Unix operating system environment; must have good working knowledge of executing Linux commands

Object Oriented Programming

Excellent communication skills

Desired Skills:

Gradle

Agile development

Redmine or JIRA experience

Java Swing/JavaFX Graphical User Interface (GUI) development experience
