The Red Hat OpenShift Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Quality Engineer with a passion for a Software Engineer in Test to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will help build Red Hat OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), a system built on container technology and the Kubernetes cluster management system that is changing how development is done. Specifically, you will be working with microservices and microservice resiliency with technologies like Istio and features like canary deployments, A/B routing, and circuit breakers. You'll be responsible for all aspects of quality for Red Hat OpenShift, including designing and implementing test plans, extending existing automation frameworks, and developing new automated tests for both back and front ends. As a Software Engineer in a Test, you will gain a deep understanding of a variety of popular technologies including containers, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, etc.

Primary job responsibilities

* Develop automation framework and scripts with languages like Golang and Python
* Participate in the test planning and product planning processes
* Conduct new feature research and design test cases
* Carry out manual tests and deliver clear status for testing areas in a timely manner
* Document and advocate the resolution of new bugs with developers and communicate the impact on customers to developers and support engineers
* Constantly learn new things and maintain an overview of current technologies
* Communicate with other globally distributed quality engineers and developers working on Red Hat OpenShift
* Work in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

* Testing experience working with globally distributed QE team members
* Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent in computer science or a related field
* 5+ years of experience in QE
* Familiarity with testing methodologies and techniques
* Knowledge of the Unix or Linux operating systems of any distribution
* Programming skills in shell, Python, or Golang
* Knowledge of containers, container orchestration, Kubernetes, or Red Hat Openshift
* Motivated and dedicated to learning and collaboration
* Good written and verbal communication skills in English

The following are considered a plus:

* Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2, Google Compute Engine (GCE), or Microsoft Azure
* Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, or Red Hat OpenShift
* Contributions to open source projects or publicly available code samples
