Job Description:

The IDS Software Engineering Directorate mission is to provide world class software to be used in military systems deployed at sea and on land. The job location for this opportunity is in Tewksbury, MA, supporting defense programs. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms. As Senior Software Engineer I, the successful candidate may be responsible for designing, implementing, debugging and fixing problems with software applications, as well as supporting software integration and verification efforts. Tasks may include planning test execution steps, performing integration testing in different lab environments, documenting issues found, tracking issues to closure, and releasing software builds to the general test community. Tasks may include different levels of the software development lifecycle and may require coordination between various groups including software developers, build leads, tasks leads, system engineering, and the test community. The candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively across different groups and work well within a team. With general direction, the candidate should be able to work independently determine and develop approaches to find solutions that achieve the end goal. The job requires a well-disciplined engineer who is able to thrive in a dynamic environment.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance within one year of employment.

Basic Qualifications:

* Minimum of 4 years software engineering experience
* Strong problem solving ability
* Linux or Unix experience
* This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are able to obtain a security clearance
* Bachelor's Degree or Better in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related STEM field.

Desired Qualifications:

* Familiarity with the following Software Tools: Rational Rhapsody, Clear Case and Team Concert, Jenkins, DOORS
* Familiarity with Object-Oriented Design Knowledge including UML
* Experience in programming languages, such as C++, Ada, C, Java
* Familiar with Agile techniques, such as Scrum
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong problem solving abilities
* Broad real-time, multi-threaded software development experience
* Software development experience of a Signal Processing application
* Experience in developing and optimizing algorithms for performance
* Active DoD clearance
* Master's degree in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering
