Job Description

Amazon Route 53 is a highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) service offered by Amazon Web Services. We operate in over 100 locations worldwide and provide a 100% available service with advanced functionality such as latency-based routing (LBR), Private DNS, Geo DNS routing, DNS failover, and integration with other services (Amazon CloudFront, Amazon S3, Amazon Elastic Load Balancing, and more). Thousands of customers including Amazon.com, all of AWS, and many of the biggest names on the internet rely on us.

When the service was released in 2010, we re-invented DNS, providing 100% availability, a web API to manage DNS and fast change propagation. Since then, AWS and our customers have grown tremendously, leading to a lot of ongoing innovation that we are driving into the platform. As a key platform service, we have plans to provide customers with a DNS service that is safe, secure and easy to use. We are are constantly thinking about architectural improvements to support the ever increasing load from our growing customer base. In parallel, we are innovating by adding new DNS features, new AWS integrations, capabilities for large scale global traffic management, and more.

We are looking for a developer who will help us keep re-inventing DNS and build a platform that will set the standard for cloud computing. You will be a leader in the team. You talk to our customers and understand their needs. You outline the path to provide advanced functionality while maintaining a 100% availability guarantee under an ever increasing customer demands. You think through large-scale globally distributed systems problems and take charge of the complete software development life-cycle. You will have the opportunities to work with other services and team across Amazon and to learn from and mentor others.

If you feel strongly about solving challenging distributed systems problems, building good software and running that software in the real world, this is for you! And we would love to hear from you!
