Position Overview

Senior Software Architect, Security & Services

Pearson K-12 Learning is looking to add to our AMAZING team! Presently, we are in search of a Senior Software Architect who has a passion for developing world class products, maximizing quality and building it once effectively!

Successful candidates must have a full understanding of the tools, platforms and technologies used to develop exceptional products. Must be passionate about security and data privacy and be a change agent within their organization. Must have experience enabling agile teams to do great things within the context of a large organization.

Responsibilities

Implement DevSecOps within our platforms and ensure security is baked into everything our teams do

Stay abreast of industry developments and new security threats, coach our team for ready response

Act as an interface between our platform development teams and outside auditors, customers, and corporate security teams

Guide developers in the design of new software products for robustness, scalability, and security

Review major enhancements or technical changes to existing products

Undertake initiatives to drive down the cost of development

Drive technical consolidation and reduce duplication of effort across teams

Identify and training development teams on security and other best practices

Support multiple agile scrum teams with planning, scoping, and creation of technical solutions for the new product capabilities, through to continuous delivery to production

Develop Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions

Plan the refactoring and re-architecting of existing software where needed

Work with other architects to identify and create common reusable components

Apply test-driven development principles and architect testable solutions

Qualifications

Requirements

BS in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education/experience; advanced degree preferred

3 years' experience as a security-focused architect for internet-scale web/mobile applications and public APIs

8 years' experience coding in Java or other JVM-based languages

Experience with the Node.js, Ruby, and C#/.Net is a plus!

Experience with cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Terraform a plus

Mobile platform development experience a plus - iOS, Android, Windows

Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra

Solid experience with relational databases, such as Postgres, SQL Server, and MySQL

Experience with web technologies including JavaScript, Angular, Ionic, Stencil a plus

Understanding of current software design principles and concepts

Brilliant problem solving, analysis, design, and testing skills!

Excellent communication abilities bringing clarity to all aspects of SW projects and understanding the business needs
