Position Description

Seattle University is recruiting a Senior Security Engineer providing strong security skills and experience to the Information Security team. This position reports to the Director of Cybersecurity and Risk.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

* Identify and analyze security threats, and work with others to mitigate them.
* Act as a security consultant to other IT Services and campus teams. Share your expertise and problem solving to help them with their systems.
* Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents.
* Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
* Develop and deliver security awareness training.
* As the senior analyst, model best practices and guide security protocols for IT Services.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

* Knowledge of systems interactions and risks, including how to protect in-house and cloud-based infrastructure.
* Experience with three of the following technologies and eagerness to learn the rest: network and host-based firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools, anti-malware and spam protection, secure data transmission technologies, and network monitoring/protection solutions.
* Curiosity and drive to chase down and minimize security risks.
* Ability to organize, analyze, prioritize, and problem-solve.
* Capacity to explain and persuade in writing and conversation.
* Customer-focused relationships: listen actively to, solicit feedback from, and tactfully guide individuals with varying levels of technical aptitude.
