Job Description
Role Summary:We are forming a multidisciplinary team at the intersection of imaging systems and physics, artificial intelligence, computer vision and bioinformatics with the broad charter to develop the next generation of theoretical and practical image acquisition and image interpretation framework and new approaches to co-analyze and combine datasets from genomic, cellular and molecular methods with imaging signatures.
Essential Responsibilities:The team will consist of experts in imaging physics, image reconstruction, artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision and bioinformatics who will work in close collaboration with various business units of GE Healthcare, GE Global Research, and academic partners to advance the state of the art in precision medicine.
We are looking for candidates trained in artificial intelligence and intelligent systems, with a deep theoretical and mathematical understanding of the field along with hands-on practical experience in developing and implementing AI solutions.
The responsibilities will include:
Working with other members of the team and with academic partners in one of the following areas
Applying artificial intelligence to image reconstruction and inverse problems in medical imaging
Using AI in conjunction with other mathematical methods and knowledge of imaging systems physics to radically redesign the image acquisition chain
Keeping abreast of the latest theoretical as well as practical developments in AI, including but not limited to deep learning, with quick implementation and testing of promising advancements
Development of novel transforms for image representation in manifolds that are conducive to image reconstruction and deep learning
Shaping and leading the research program and translation to product in the selected program area of leadership
Identifying external partners and the competitive landscape in the selected program area of leadership
Project execution basics. This includes: oversight of objectives, timelines, milestones, deliverables, pivots, reviews, personnel allocation, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements:
PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent degree and 7 years relevant work experience.
Strong theoretical and mathematical foundations in artificial intelligence
Coding skills and familiarity with open source development environments
Demonstrated skills in developing and implementing artificial intelligence solutions, preferably in healthcare or in other industries
Strong publication record and/or demonstrated contributions to leading commercial products
Desired Characteristics:Ability to execute scientific program area with business impact and seeing it through to completion including scientific and business outcomes
Demonstrated ability to work in large multidisciplinary teams and complex programs
Knowledge of digital technologies and data science. Some familiarity with diagnostic imaging, clinical workflow and molecular technologies would be desirable
