Job Description

We are seeking a talented Senior Quest Designer to join our growing team at Bethesda Game Studios Austin. Senior Quest Designers are responsible for designing, writing, implementing, documenting, providing feedback, and maintaining content for our current and future games.

Responsibilities

* Design quest content that tells engaging stories and introduces new mechanics to the game
* Implement quests in our proprietary toolset through the use of a text-based scripting language
* Write character dialogue, in-game books and terminals, quest log entries, descriptions, and player-facing messages
* Maintain legacy content and make required bug fixes
* Collaborate with artists, engineers and other designers in strike teams as needed
* Serve as a product owner for content-related strike team initiatives
* Review quests and provide constructive feedback to fellow designers to help improve the product
* Collaborate with Leads to plan quest content releases based on high level direction
* Assist in mentoring junior members of the design team

Requirements

* Excellent writing and editing skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience working with a variety of established game toolsets
* Experience and skill with one or more text based scripting languages
* Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross disciplinary groups
* A minimum of 7 years of experience working in a design capacity on PC or console games
* Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize efforts
* Candidate must supply a portfolio featuring examples of their work, including writing samples with dialogue
* Candidate must be willing to take a short design test that includes both scripting and writing sections
* Experience shipping a AAA game or patching/maintaining a live game

Desired Skills

The following skills are not required for consideration, but are highly desired:

* Experience creating mods or content for BGS games using the CreationKit
* Strong knowledge and interest in Fallout lore
* Development experience on a multiplayer, online game
* Solid debugging experience with text based script languages
