Position Summary

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will be hands-on and act as an information resource about assigned areas of responsibility to other Quality Assurance staff and possess leadership capabilities for multiple complex projects and SW releases. He or she will create, implement, maintain and recommend changes to test cases, test procedures and instructions, and produce evaluation processes. He or She will work with Developer and Project Managers in defining and designing performance test tools and infrastructures and building performance and IOT test infrastructure. Manage low-level engineers to ensure thorough test coverage and test performance before product launch date.

* Designing and implementing test strategies, test plans, functional and performance test cases, policies, infrastructures for ensuring high quality hardware and software for Samsung wireless mobile devices. Also, take the lead in test execution efforts with engineers in various locations.
* Create, implement, maintain and recommend changes to test cases, test procedures and instructions, and product evaluation processes. Promote standard test methodologies for use throughout the company.
* Specifies test equipment required for product verification or qualification testing.
* Provide training of Qualification test personnel as required to ensure thorough test coverage.
* Assist in the testing and evaluation of new mobile features to ensure that said products contain no unidentified problems when released to manufacturing.
* Working with Developers and Project Managers in defining and designing performance test tools and infrastructures designing and building performance and IOT test infrastructure.
* Manage low-level engineers to ensure thorough test coverage and test performance before product launch date.
* Responsible for planning, processing and performing all jobs in an efficient manner with no assistance from the supervisor.
* Works closely with MPEL (Mobile Product Engineering Lab) PL team in the US and S/W Engineering and Development Group in HQ.
* Responding promptly to reports submitted by other QA engineers and professionally report SW/HW detected issues to upper management.
* Review, edit, and update internal test cases, test reports, and test tools.
* Expected to conduct internal issue analysis with limited support from upper management to increase Samsung mobile device's quality and stability in a rapidly progressing mobile industry.
* Analyze and manage issues detected by QA engineers to professionally present issue reports to upper management and other departments.
* Analyze and understand test specifications and correctly translate them to set up test designs and cases for QA engineers.
* Responsible for developing new test cases and proofing various test cases as needed to assure production of a quality product.
* Tests new features to ensure that features and performance are correct, and that test results are accurate; assists lower-level engineers with test assignments.
* Search, summarize and keep the team abreast of strategic information from all sources
* Capable of writing proposals and professional reports and make presentations to colleagues and upper management.
* Strong and effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and positively with a diverse group of clients and staff.
* Responsible for communicating with R&D and manufacturer technical support staff regarding test needs and performance. Also, provide assistance to R&D and support personnel as needed to determine internal/market issues.
* Provide general administrative support to the organization
* Provide feedback to analysis/training staff about performance considerations /usability issues concerning software specifications and implementation.
* Research and recommend test tools to upper management. Also, provide recommendations to increase engineer productivity and s/w test management.

Role and Responsibilities

* Minimum 5 years of system/software QA/software development experience. (Telecom experience preferred) and in Handset RF Performance and Drive testing, with solid understanding in LTE/UMTS/CDMA networks
* Excellent knowledge in Advanced LTE features including but not limited to QAM, LAA, Carrier Aggregation, MIMO, Beam Forming
* Expert in IMS SIP (Session Initiated Protocol), Message Session Relay Protocol (RCS), VoLTE & IR94 call processing.
* In-depth knowledge of wireless technologies such as GSM and CDMA is required, and also familiar with 5G technologies a plus including but not limited to mmWave/Sub6 and Beamforming.
* Experience testing in mobile products.
* Demonstrated experience in functional and performance testing.
* Proven experience in QA life cycle, from test plan, test execution, to reporting bugs
* Knowledge of software development models and their impact to testing
* Hands-on experience of wireless standards/protocols preferably GSM/CDMA/WCDMA/LTE and Radio interface and/or exposure to RF network engineering
* Able to perform UE debugging and log analysis in modem (CP) and application layers (IMS).
* Understands call flows and procedures between UE and network in NAS/AS domain (Activation, VoLTE/CS call processing, Attach/Detach, Cell selection and reselection, and handovers).
* Able to analyze and debug IMS related features including but not limited to registration, VoLTE/VoWiFi/ViLTE/Conferencing/SMS/MMS/RCS
* Familiarity and understanding of 3GPP specifications and Carrier Requirements a plus
* Expert in utilizing UE log post processing tools (QXDM, QCAT, Wireshark) with good understanding in OTA signaling messages.
* Develops and maintains excellent proactive, working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company.
* Plans, organizes and prioritizes multiple engineering support assignments and projects in small testing teams as directed by the manager of the group and/or other departmental leaders.
* Reads, interprets and acts on proper understanding of technical documents, engineering test materials and contracts or related documents based on corporate legal and customer applications, engineering standards and philosophy.
* Demonstrates competency in communication skills using both oral and written methods for internal and external personnel at all management and staff organizational levels for both persuasion in product manufacturing decision activities and/or the communication of technical information. Must be able to communicate in writing, through email and reports, or orally complex technical matters to an audience that may include less technically oriented listeners.
* Manage and lead QA engineers individually or small testing groups of QA engineers in order to achieve personal and team goals and complete assignments within established time frames.
* Assign tasks and objective and functional direction with implied knowledge of task alternatives and report the result with professionalism through oral and written communication methods.
* Capable of long periods of drive testing in field.
* Korean speaking/reading is preferred
