Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager (SSI) to join our Enterprise Project Management (EPMO) within the Information Technology Services (ITS) department here at the University of Southern California. The Senior Project Manager will be tasked with supporting various initiatives for the ITS Project Management Office (PMO). The successful candidate will be responsible for executing deliverables for the PMO including creating and managing comprehensive project schedules and plans, defining and maintaining the project scope to ensure changes are formalized through a documented change control process and supervising project resources to manage the completion of project deliverables.

The ideal candidate must possess five years of experience in Information Technology and at least three years of experience as a project leader managing IT projects. A Project Management certification (PMP) or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum as well as prior experience in both IT and non-IT project management are preferred.

This is a fixed-term position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2021. This is a full-time role eligible for benefits including medical, dental and vision plans, a competitive 401K plan, and education reimburseme

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate for the position of Senior Project Manager must meet the following qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, business administration, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* Five years of experience in information technology or project management.
* Experience as a Senior Project or Program Manager in a technical environment.
* PMP certification or equivalent project management experience.
* Experience with information technology infrastructure, enterprise architecture, security, cloud, SDLC, applications, DevOps, data governance, and/or analytics.
* Extensive experience in developing high-performing teams by providing mentorship and stewardship to enable career development and growth.
* Experience planning, scheduling, and managing budgets.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to communicate and write effectively with management, technical, and non-technical staff.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
* Proficiency with project portfolio management (PPM) tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, and ServiceNow.
* Experience managing diverse, cross-functional teams.
* Data analysis skills for the creation and presentation of reports to senior management.
* Exceptional organizational skills to balance work and resources.
* Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for the position of Senior Project Manager has the following qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, business administration, etc.
* Eight or more years of experience in information technology or project management.
* PgMP, PfMP, Agile Scrum, LEAN Six Sigma, ITIL, and/or OCM certification.

THE WORK YOU WILL DO

The Senior Project Manager leads ITS enterprise program and project delivery by forming strong business relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for executing program and project management deliverables for USC and the ITS EPMO. This role is responsible for managing comprehensive program and project plans, controlling scope, and directing project budget resources towards the completion of project deliverables. The Senior Project Manager is an enthusiastic change agent who manages ambiguity and influence in a federated organization. As part of ITS, the Senior Project Manager demonstrates ITS values in action.

Job Accountabilities

The Senior Project Manager:

* Builds and sustains strong, collaborative relationships with ITS departments and staff and a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders in administrative and academic units by maintaining currency on current and future business needs, university-wide technology initiatives, and leading-edge practices in project management.
* Establishes a foundation for each project by working with project sponsors to create a robust and comprehensive project charter and project baseline report. Develops project stakeholder communications and internal project team communications.
* Drives continuous improvement and delivers value to the ITS organization by managing each project with an accurate, well-communicated project scope. Oversees the creation of an actionable schedule and budget. Reports risks that may affect work progress and recommends mitigation strategies.
* Manages the productivity and effectiveness of various projects by creating appropriate project status reports. Maintains an accurate project tracking log for each project to monitor budget, time, scope, and communications.
* Proactively identifies and resolves project issues in a timely fashion by creating strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning. Escalates disruptions and dependencies to departmental leadership as necessary.
* Understands project management methodologies and applies methodologies to all projects by demonstrating expertise in project management tools, service management frameworks, and technology strategies. Utilizes proper change control processes, presents regular project updates, and develops reports on project progress and compliance.
* Contributes to an inclusive environment that values differences by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with team members, peers, and ITS leaders. Actively embodies ITS values and behaviors including accountability, ethics, and best-in-class customer service. Contributes to a culture of trust and transparency by sharing information broadly, openly, and deliberately.
* Supports the vision for the EPMO. Works closely with team members and management to implement and support effective solutions for project management. Maintains currency with technology, standards, and best practices. Supports process improvement efforts within the team and across ITS.
* Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time
