Job Description

The Azure Core team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to work across Microsoft driving Linux-based initiatives to improve the user experience for Linux users, and work with major Linux vendors on these improvements. The person in this role will use their strong technical background and understanding, along with their excellent communication, program management, and collaboration skills to drive customer scenarios, create requirements, identify business opportunities, and work across Microsoft and Linux vendors to implement solutions and programs that create value for customers and partners.

Basic Qualifications:

* 6+ years program management (including managing requirements from multiple stakeholders)
* Deep Linux experience (expertise with one or more major Linux distros: CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in a fast-paced production environment
* Experience defining products and working across teams and partners
* Experience with cloud native technologies like containers and Kubernetes
* Experience with OSS development practices and the Linux community
* Strong, demonstrated technical problem solving and communication skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with rapidly changing requirements
* Demonstrated leadership and strong cross-team skills
* Experience with a public cloud required, ideally Azure experience
* Experience with vulnerability management and associated industry practices and resources
* Ability to analyze complex problems to determine best course of action
* Ability to successfully influence without authority and manage efforts through relationships
* Ability to inspire leadership and trust across teams and companies
* Ability to promote a collaborative environment and bring a positive attitude to difficult situations
* Ability to self-regulate through conflict management and negotiations to achieve the best results for all involved

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

You will be responsible for nurturing partnerships and helping Linux vendors navigate the internal systems and teams that enable Linux on Azure and in other Microsoft products. You will work with the field, marketing, marketplace, and other teams to make sure these solutions get delivered to customers and enable the business models of our partners.

You will be working with extremely technical partners and internal engineering teams, and must have a deep understanding of how Linux works, various distros (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, SUSE at a least), cloud deployment, package management, security and compliance. This is not a programming job, but the ability to read and understand code and discuss requirements and implementation details with engineers is essential. Experience with enterprise customers, their success, and sales is helpful, but not required. The successful candidate will be flexible and have a very broad range of skills.
