Performs activities to identify and pursue market opportunities for Information Technology products. Leads customer engagements and analyzes customer, competitor and market data to develop IT product strategy, concepts and capabilities. Develops business case and product plans. Oversees creation of business and functional requirements and product roadmaps. Works with other IT professionals to ensure requirements are met. Obtains funding and approval to develop products. Develops plans for entry of IT products in external market. Supports product demonstrations, value propositions and represents/promotes IT products internally and externally. Adjusts product capabilities and strategy to meet financial targets.

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Product Specialist for Augmented Reality to join the Team in Everett, WA.

Extended Reality (xR) is a game-changing set of technology that allows anyone hands free/immersive access to data and information. xR encompasses the fields of Virtual, Augmented, and Informed Reality. With pilot deployments across the Boeing Enterprise, we have found a real and compelling business justification for maturing and expanding this technology for use in our various production systems supporting factory operations.

In Boeing IT, our focus is on innovative solutions implementing cutting-edge agile software development methodologies and user-centric design. We are looking for passionate Product Managers who know how to define, de-risk and execute against a product vision. You will work to create, own, and continuously improve strategic and tactical plans for your product in the xR space. You must also be able to engage our internal partners' management with discussions about methodologies, culture, and best practices.

This is a collaborative leadership role that requires being able to work and lead projects with internal customers and colleagues on integrated product teams. The role demands strong product instincts, excellent communication skills, ability to lead without authority, technical fluency, empathy, humility, an understanding of the product vs. project mindset, and an appreciation for and ability to teach agile, lean startup, and user-centered design values, principles and practices. A successful candidate must be willing to contribute to the development of the methodology and product management discipline.

Position Responsibilities:

* Engage directly with the business and the development team on a daily basis.
* Help the business define their product strategy and vision whilst breaking it down into user stories for the development team.
* Partner with both internal and external software teams to develop solutions to user needs.
* Create, own, and continuously improve strategic and tactical plans for your product
* Actively manage user stories and acceptance criteria while enabling the team and blocking from distraction.
* Perform activities to identify and pursue market opportunities for Information Technology products.
* Support the creation of Long Range Business Plan in coordination with Portfolio Management, Technology Strategy, Program Execution, and Build teams
* Maintain a detailed knowledge of capability requirements and expectations across your application portfolio
* Respond to ad-hoc product workshops, LRBP adjustment exercises, and other data calls which impact your product portfolio in order to streamline Build team development activities

Skills needed for success in this role:

* Experience and ability to lead from within a product team
* Ability to quickly understand a specific domain and identify the trends and opportunities in that space.
* Ability to analyze processes, systems and data to identify function requirements for application or system design.
* Skill at defining and prioritizing product features
* Ability to bridge business goals, user needs and feasibility when designing and shipping product
* Strong leadership and communications skills and the ability to teach others
* Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making
* Experience in Agile, Kanban, Lean, automated testing and/or continuous integration work.
* Background in design or software development a plus

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

* This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
* 5+ years' experience in Product Development, Software Product Management, Software Development or related working experience
* 5+ years' experience working within a development environment using Agile methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience)

* Technical Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Human Centered Design, Visual Design, Computer Science, or a related field and typically 8 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 5 or more years' or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* A strong portfolio demonstrating innovative solutions, problems you have solved and your design process
* Established long-term relationships with end-users
* Led user research, design collaboration sessions, and usability evaluations for a software application or systems.
* Established visual design consistency across a software system, communicated through a style guide
* Created responsive designs optimized for a mobile and/or hands-free interaction
* Used advanced prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision and/or Flinto
* Worked with a Lean/Agile software development methodology, rapidly iterating and delivering solutions, for at least three years
