Job Description

The Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence Health & Services is a small but mighty product development and incubation team that is building next-gen tools that give patients convenient and easy access to healthcare virtually anywhere, anytime.

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer in Seattle, WA that will not only help define the user experience for our customers, but help create the overall user experience vision for the DIG. Since user experience is critical to our future success, we are looking for candidates who are passionate about creating an outstanding user experience and who can apply that passion to solving consumer problems. As a Senior Product Designer, you will develop detailed storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas and will ensure that DIG's products meet a high design standard across multiple platforms including the latest generation mobile devices and rich internet applications.

Key Working Relationships

The position reports to the Director of User Experience and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels in Providence Strategic and Management Services (PSMS), as well as with other Providence Health & Services staff, vendors, agents, and others.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

* Defines the appropriate design approach. Delivers experience outcomes and designs that are compelling, consistent with the product/service values and themes, and meaningfully different than those of competitors


* Designs and guides the exploration of the range of possibilities for the aesthetic vision for the product/service


* Uses prototypes to communicate product-line concepts, narratives, and experience value propositions


* Demonstrates ability to translate business requirements into user interface requirements


* Acts as an user advocate and evangelizes user experience throughout the organization


* Lead specification reviews, design review, design workshops and other quality assurance best practices to ensure user experience integrity


* Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop design vision. Work with management to ensure vision meets business and product goals


* Through storytelling, describe and defend your design decisions


* Lead the development and maintenance of design mockups, user flows, wireframe, detailed specifications and other design documents as needed.



Required qualifications for this position include:

* Bachelor's degree


* 5 years' experience in a role with emphasis in web and mobile experience design.


* Understands the underlying customer needs and an ability to address those through design


* Incredible designer with amazing design chops. You've shipped consumer products and understand what it takes to create awesome, consumer-oriented experiences. Stellar online portfolio to demonstrate said mastery.


* Demonstrates an understanding of how business decisions impact design and adjusts accordingly


* Demonstrated knowledge of web accessibility principles and experience in building for web accessibility


* Demonstrated knowledge of iOS and Android mobile metaphors and guidelines.



Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* Master's degree in Human-Centered design and engineering or equivalent.
