The Senior IT Disaster Recovery Engineer assists in development of risk management procedures, business continuance scenarios, contingency and disaster recovery plans for central and distributed systems and networks to maintain operations during downtime and/or major disasters. The Senior IT Disaster Recovery Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
The Senior IT Disaster Recovery Process Professional, reporting to the Department Lead, assists in governance and documentation of disaster recovery controls and plans, contingency and disaster recovery plans for central and distributed systems and networks to maintain operations during downtime and/or major disasters. The Senior IT Disaster Recovery Professional work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Job Description
The Senior IT Disaster Recovery Professional establishes & maintains program governance, policy & standards. Improve program capabilities & quality (plan dev/maintenance, exercise & validation).
Performs planning, resource coordination, execution, issue mgmt., tracking, reporting, creating visuals for status tracking, and leads to influence department's strategy.
Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components. Work is to be performed with minimal direction.
Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Successful candidate should have a solid background in areas of response planning, governance and project management.
Other Specific Expectations:
Coordinating, assessing, improving & communicating recovery environment requirements associated with Application & Business Unit, planning & new activities, to appropriate IT management & technology groups, resulting in recommendations to enable timely, effective decisions regarding DR hardware & software recovery planning
Coordinate activities between the IT technology groups, IT applications development teams and business units, emphasizing regular, direct communication between all teams supporting ITDR alternate site maintenance, exercise & validation efforts
Ensure that plans exist which provide for manual/off-line procedure, where possible, to mitigate risk associated with complete or partial failure of facilities, technology systems or applications related to an unforeseen disruption
Work with Application and Infrastructure teams to ensure adequacy of all application based DR Plans/Activation Run books
Application and Infrastructure knowledge & understanding to ensure proper planning for and implementation of a highly advanced disaster recovery alternate site capability and the corresponding DR program components
Coordinate & facilitate all business & application related DR planning & execution activities
Interact with the critical business units & application support groups for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling and maintaining adequacy of contingency planning efforts and testing
Experienced with the technologies and strategies employed by DR program
Extensive experience with and an understanding of enterprise data replication & automation technologies as well as DR network topology design and implementation
Coordinate & facilitate maintenance of the DR policy and standards by working closely with Humana IT teams
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of disaster recovery planning experience
* Extensive experience analyzing data, creating charts and metrics for measuring progress
* Strong Excel skills using excel formulas and pivot tables
Preferred Qualifications
* Working knowledge of Archer and ISO-22301, industry accreditation (DRI or BCI)
* Archer experience and Tableau tool experience
