Business Need / Purpose of Role

The Senior Network Engineer position focuses on Weir's internal and external global network, including data center and cloud environments. This position is responsible for design, implementation, management, and support in a highly complex infrastructure that spans numerous local and wide area networks and data communication systems. The Senior Network Engineer role will additionally focus on security as a ground up approach building security as a fundamental foundation of all designs and implementations.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Objectives:

* Provide technical services and support for WAN/LAN connectivity, routers, switches, firewalls.
* Implement our global rollout of SDWAN (Cisco IWAN)
* Evaluate, recommend and implement tools and procedures to achieve maximum network efficiency.
* Participate in security audits and champion the resolution and/or mitigation of any issues found with regards to network vulnerabilities.
* Develops, plans, and oversees the implementation of the enterprise network.
* Establishes hardware, firmware, and software migration plans.
* Designs and analyzes requirements and specifications.
* Develops production testing and change control procedures.
* Provides specifications for the acquisition of new network hardware and software.
* Provides Tier 3 support for the enterprise network; including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, gateways, Wi-Fi, routing protocols (OSPF and BGP), Cisco IWAN, DMVPN, monitoring and reporting applications etc.
* Develops and maintains precise network documentation, reports and presentations for management review.
* Initiates and creates enterprise strategies and plans for network administration and security. Prepares and maintains device configuration, including routine backups, long-term archives, and disaster recovery support. Collaborates in the development and deployment of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
* Monitors and analyzes enterprise network performance and security. Ensures that network performance supports enterprise applications.
* Develops and implements network performance and security improvements.
* Provides remote support as necessary.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in IT or computer engineering or equivalent experience with 7 or more years of experience supporting network infrastructure systems. Extensive hands on experience working in Cisco environments. Deep understanding of computer networks including routing, switching, and network security.

Language and People Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Liaison by formal and informal means with staff of all levels.

Builds lasting working relationships and shows consideration for colleagues.

Demonstrable understanding of KPIs and Management reporting framework

Computer Skills:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the following areas:

* Cisco networking hardware (Nexus, ACI, IOS)
* Network management systems (NMS)
* Network upgrades and rollouts
* Network monitoring tools (Solarwinds, RRD, etc)
* Cisco ASA firewalls
* Cisco DMVPN and IWAN

Extensive understanding of IT security best practices is a must

Excellent writing and documentation skills

Current Cisco certifications is a plus

Mathematical:

Ability for analytical understanding of statistical trending information to continually improve delivery of services and customer experience

Reasoning Ability:

Logical reasoning for information technology, proactive, accountability for service improvements, with the ability to quickly translate requests or problems into appropriate actions and solutions.

Work Environment:

Required to work in an office environment. Occasionally required to work in Data Center and Communications Rooms. Some travel may be required.
