The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for L2/L3 support of the global network and has expertise in at least one functional domain (Core Networking, Perimeter, WLAN, Domain Services, Unified Communications, Automation). This position has global reach and requires the skills to work effectively in an enterprise environment servicing both internal and external clients.
Incumbent's responsibilities consist of L2/L3 troubleshooting escalation path for the network operations team, project management, network documentation, configuration and use of advanced network tools and automation. Global Network Operations support a large number of business units including On-Air broadcast networks and TV stations, internal application server farms, cutting edge enterprise data centers servicing proxy and web hosting environments and external facing 3rd party vendors. Interpersonal communication and a proactive nature will be key in successfully fulfilling this role. This role is a senior operational extension of the different network engineering teams and will work closely with these teams in design, deployment and support activities as well as ensuring proper instrumentation and management, documentation, training and hand offs are completed as engineering projects transition to operations.
B.S. degree in Information Technology
Technical discipline or equivalent work experience (10+ years)
Cisco CCNP/CCIE and CISSP or equivalent certifications
Expert level knowledge of routing and switching concepts and technologies. Must have subject matter expertise in core routing/switching, load balancing, firewalls, proxies, Active Directory, DNS, VoIP, Videoconferencing and/or unified communications. Must be capable of providing at least L2 level support for each of these listed technologies.
Working experience with scripting technologies. Emphasis on network monitoring and automation.
Strong project management, documentation, organizational and communication skills are required.
Experience in virtualization technologies, Cisco ACI, AWS, Azure, SDN, SDWAN a strong plus.
Senior level industry certifications in networking, security and all other relevant domains are preferred.
Position provides onsite support at Los Angeles site during normal business hours and on call support for all global escalations during these hours as part of a "Follow the Sun" support model. Off-hours support will be required on a rotating basis.
