Overview

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for managing, supporting and maintaining of the WWF US LAN technical infrastructure. Performs general maintenance and upgrades of infrastructure equipment, hardware and software including firewalls, routers, switches, servers, SAN, VMware environment and more in HQ and DR site. Develop and implement best practices for support, perform routine maintenance, and proactively monitor systems for alerts. Works with the Corporate Security Officer and the Director of Network Services to develop a strategy to effectively manage technical infrastructure at WWF US Headquarters. Responsible for research, evaluation, and testing of new and emerging network technologies.

Responsibilities Responsible for managing IT Network (LAN) systems. Provides technical support and troubleshoots infrastructure equipment. Provides tier 3 support to end users when requested by other Network Services staff. Maintains a security strategy to reduce the risk of a security breach. Responsible for updating and patching server operating systems, firewalls, switches, routers and other networking appliances and systems. Supports Office 365 email and cloud products. Manages and maintains the voice network infrastructure and mobile device security. Maintains and supports remote access solutions implemented at WWF US, including Citrix and VPN. Documents all infrastructure systems, operating systems, and mission critical applications under the responsibility of Network Services. Document all proposed changes in the CM system and record appropriate migration and rollback steps, test approvals and system outages. Maintains Disaster Recovery procedures to insure recovery of all identified systems, under the responsibilities of Network Services, in a declared disaster or a DR test. Evaluate existing and new technologies for value and potential cost reduction. May include a supervisor role to the Network Engineer. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education/Experience:

* A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
* Continuing education including certifications in some technologies is highly desirable. Requires a minimum of 5 years experience, (but 8 years are preferred) of related experience supporting computer networks.
* In depth experience supporting the following technologies: Firewalls, networking equipment (switches, routers), storage (SAN), virtual environment (VMWare), Servers, remote access technologies (Citrix, VPN), cable plant, backup solutions. Supervising experience, managing one or more specialists. Experience with Active Directory and Office 365.

* Strong organizational and documentation skills
* Project management skills including development of detailed project plans
* Well developed methodologies for troubleshooting difficult problems
* Team builder and team player
* Previous experience managing one or more direct reports highly desired
* Must be able to work in the DC office
