Senior Network / Cloud Ops Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA- United States

Position Overview

Candidate will assist with execution of our cloud transformation strategy, responsible to build, deploy, and configure reliable cloud environments based on application team requirements by leveraging standard cloud services, products and infrastructure as code. Candidate will also be responsible for supporting and maintaining classic on-prem data center networks, including automation and standardization of traditional multi-vendor network deployments.

Responsibilities

* Leverage cloud platform products and services to build, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure components through IaC


* Pair with application teams to design and implement codified stacks that meet the needs of their applications


* Enforce defined standards and governance to ensure adherence to best practices


* Identify emerging requirements and use cases from application teams and provide feedback to the Cloud Platform Engineering team to build new products


* Integrate operational capabilities to facilitate and ensure operational health of stacks throughout their lifecycle, including:


* Log Collection, aggregation and correlation


* Event management and routing


* Asset, capacity, and billing/tag management


* Identify opportunities for business enablement through the use of technology


* Provide architectural and engineering leadership, defining and implementing strategies to ensure scalability, availability, and functionality


* Develop automated methods to solve and mitigate network events, as well as self-service tools to improve operational efficiency


* Support our multi-vendor wired and wireless LANs and WANs spanning multiple data centers, offices, and virtual deployments in AWS, including connectivity, security, and monitoring



Minimum Qualifications

* AWS public cloud platforms expertise


* Orchestration template technologies such as Cloudformation,


* Configuration management and automation tools such as: Chef, Puppet, and Ansible


* Source code management using Githubor Bitbucket


* Proficiency with programming and scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, Perl,


* Experienced in designing, implementing and maintaining monitoring and alerting systems


* Strong knowledge of network concepts and protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, STP, OSPF, NAT, VoIP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc


* Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire network, on-prem LAN/WAN, public cloud, and on the Internet


* Architectural level knowledge to build and grow a stable, scalable, and flexible networks


* Expert hands on skills with all network devices including routers, firewalls, switches, load balancers, and wi-fi


* Experience with managing and supporting both on-prem and public cloud environments


* Passion for doing the right thing for the customers and the business


* Experience and availability to be on-call supporting a 24x7 environment


* Work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment to teach and learn


* Ability to learn new technologies quickly with a passion


* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in technology, information systems, and business fields


* Minimum three (3) years' experience in supporting and or designing highly available networks


* Additional certifications preferred, such as:


* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)


* Arista Configurations Essentials (ACE) or Arista Programming Essentials (APE)


* AWS Certifications such as:


* AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner


* AWS Certified Developer - Associate


* AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate


* AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty


* AWS Certified Security - Specialty


* Familiarity with various vendors and products including: Cisco, Arista, Juniper, F5, and Silver Peak.


* Increase job knowledge through continuing education and professional development opportunities, attend conferences, and read professional industry publications


* Open to being on call outside of regular working hours as well as occasional nights and weekends in the office


* Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
