Role Overview

Do you have experience governing and managing data? Do you want to convert data into insights to influence a major aerospace and defense company? Do you thrive on using cutting-edge, technology to create informed data-driven business decisions? If yes, we want to talk to you.

The Data Management team within Collins Aerospace's Digital Technology is responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Company's data management goals, standards, practices, processes, and technologies.

As a Data Governance & Quality Manager you will be in charge of organizing and streamlining the process with which data is collected, shared, utilized, protected, cleaned, and stored; all the while maintaining efficiency and saving the company from inaccurate data handling, unusable data, and potentially saving lots of time and money by keeping the data congruent with the company goal.

Job Responsibilities

* Track data flows in our digital enterprise


* Organize data for maximum efficiencies and revenue generation


* Designate accountability for information Quality


* Improve Data Security & comply with regulations (Sarbanes-Oxley, DFARS, ITAR, etc.)


* Serve as a liaison between both internal and external technical and business groups


* Govern methods used by data stewards and scientists handling data


* Evolve Data Governance into Data Intelligence


* Define and Implement Data Quality Standards for maximum efficiencies and revenue generation


* Recommend changes to methods used by data stewards and scientists handling data to meet Quality Standards


* Use Data Quality tools and methodology needed for successful quality control


* Serve as a liaison between both internal and external technical and business groups


* Provide automated reports to Leadership based on Quality Dimensions


* Provide thought leadership by defining standards, processes and best practices



Basic Qualifications

* Strong collaboration, problem solving, communication skills and drive to learn.


* Previous work experience developing data governance solutions (Teams, Policies/Procedures and Technology to support governance).


* Degree in business-related or quantitative fields (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Information Systems) or equivalent experience in technical field. Advanced degrees preferred.


* Fluency in computer science fundamentals and software design/engineering.


* Knowledge of Relational, Non-Relational and Hadoop Eco-systems


* Knowledge about Data migration tools, Data Modeling, Data Integrations and Cloud technologies


* Proficiency in data principles, different databases, data Quality dimensions.


* Experience using Data Lakes, Data Hub, Data warehouse and Master Data management solutions.


* Proficiency in data principles, different databases, Quality dimensions and cloud technologies.


* Must be US Citizen or permanent US Resident


* Must work at one of our larger sites, such as Cedar Rapids, IA, Richardson, TX, Chula Vista, CA, Windsor Locks, CT, Charlotte, NC - (no remote)



This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the

appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
