Job Description

Do you want to improve advertising on the internet - but don't know how?

Our team is looking for creative, driven managers with strong technical backgrounds that want to make a difference.

We use technology to improve the user experience of advertising across all digital platforms at The New York Times while maintaining or growing our revenue. Our advertising revenue is necessary to put journalists where news happens. A smooth advertising experience is our priority when delivering the news to our readers. Our team contributes by driving both of these efforts for the long-term sustainability of the business.

Our Values

Humor, inclusiveness, creativity, people-first.

What we do?

Our team builds new libraries and tools to improve standardization across platforms. We recently architected a multi-platform advertising framework using ReactJS, which makes ad implementation seamless. This framework, as well as other tools we have built, can be open-sourced to help the industry as a whole. We collaborate with many technology teams and platforms including Android, IOS, Hybrid, Story, Home and Interactive News. We partner with many companies in the advertising industry including Google and Amazon to enhance the advertising experience together. We measure overall page performance as well as advertising load time to find opportunities for improvement.

About you

* You have a strong technical skillset, particularly JavaScript (ES6): You can take ownership of a high-quality digital experience from start to finish.

* You show a strong knowledge of modern software design and architecture

* You show technically proficiency in writing performant, scalable, reusable, testable code

* You will direct the development and maintenance of large-scale, high-performance web applications

* You also have a strong sense of personal responsibility: You can be trusted to deliver.

* You take a creative approach to solving problems.

* You enjoy a fast-paced role with high impact

* You're comfortable jumping between details and bigger-picture challenges.

* If you are a member of a group that has been historically underrepresented in technology, we especially encourage you to apply.
