Job Summary:

Hosting Services Applications Environments is an outcome-aligned organization which is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of all compute environments including mainframe, traditional midrange, IaaS, PaaS and Public Cloud. The Senior Database Administrator position is in the Mainframe Database Management group which is part of the Data Platforms group.

The Mainframe Database Management group is responsible for many functions in servicing Application Development and Hosting Services Db2 zOS and IMS operational databases, including, but not limited to: Database design; Performance tuning; Backup and Recovery; Security; Disaster Recovery; Capacity management. The individual will collaborate and consult on development of complex technical decisions, security standards and will contribute to architectural decisions. They may act as team leader on moderately complex projects. These technologies may include coding (Java, node.js, REST Services, REXX, etc...) for internal web applications and developing new functionalities on and off the mainframe.

About the job:

* Design, test, implements and secures the organizations' production and non-production databases in a high-volume OLTP environment, utilizing state of the art database concepts and employing leading-edge maintenance techniques to maximize Application availability
* Provides consultation to Application Developers / Data Modelers on - Database design; Performance and Tuning; DB engine enhancements; DB Utility usage; Database Security features
* Provides support for various activities including: Database maintenance; Application releases; Performance tuning; Disaster recovery; Database software upgrade and patch testing; Schema change and Utility Automation
* Works under limited supervision
* Assists in training less experienced DBAs
* Provides oversight and expertise to application developers in DB/SQL Coding and tuning, coding and deployment of SQL, stored procedures or database functions
* Collaborates on the development of technical and security standards with other database administrators and technical resources for Db2 z/OS and IMS
* Provides rotational 24/7 on-call support for production environments
* Performs related duties as requested or assigned

Desired skills:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years in the design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments.
* Proficiency in IMS v14 and Database Utilities and Products (IMS/VS DB/DC and FastPath DB Support, GSAM, HDAM, HIDAM, HISAM)
* Proficiency in Db2 for zOS v12 and BMC DB2 Database Utilities and Products (DB2 online Reorg, BMC Copy Plus, BMC Change Manager, BMC Log Master).
* Knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies.
* General knowledge of layered systems architectures and understanding of shared software concepts, cloud based platforms, and development tools.
* An understanding of the Agile methodology.
