Job Description

Oversees system integration, hardware and software installation, configuration and disposition of servers and workstations to support the architecture. Provides complex problem resolution, root cause analysis and technical support for delivery systems. Participates in the design, validation and configuration management of computing delivery systems. Plans and coordinates system changes. Administers user system access and establishes safeguards to protect information to meet security requirements. Oversees activities to monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning. Mentors, leads and trains others.

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join the Information Technology division in Fairfax, VA. In this role you will work with a diverse range of both people and systems. As a Systems Administrator with the Boeing Fairfax IT operations team, you are an integral part of the Boeing team developing hardware and software solutions for our defense customers.

Job Responsibilities:

* Build, deploy, and maintain Linux servers and workstations
* Develop build scripts and automated procedures for deploying Linux images
* Develop and maintain procedures and scripts to respond to security requirements, such as RMF
* Maintain Linux repositories for software packaging and patching
* Evaluate and effectively communicate complex system problems and resolution
* Integrate security solutions into information systems
* Administer user system access and establish safeguards to protect information systems
* Maintain awareness of and participate in the planning and execution of upgrades and patches for operating systems and COTS software
* Architect, install, and administer storage, backup, and network infrastructure needs
* Document IT processes and sustain configuration management records

This position requires an active Current Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Required Qualifications:

* Expertise supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems (RHEL5/6/7)
* System administration of complex infrastructure and software development systems
* Experience maintaining enterprise-wide storage infrastructure (Netapp experience preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Windows support and administration experience in an Active Directory (LDAP) environment
* Experience with security and vulnerability scanning tools such as ACAS/Nessus, STIG's, and SCC
* Experience with VMware vCenter, vSphere, and managing virtual machines
* Current SCI

Typical Education / Experience:

* Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)

Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.
