General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior IT Systems Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systemsMaintains the integrity and security of servers and systems Serves as a front line interface to users with technical issues Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchaseInteracts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staffConducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users The Server System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of Server servicesPerforms Server administration for Server Operating SystemsPerforms administration of physical and virtualized serversResponsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardwareConfigures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on serversPerforms OS and vendor software patching on serversMonitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools Performs, maintains, troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on ServersCreates scripts to automate repetitive processes Work with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with Servers that are effecting other servicesContributes and executes plans, designs, and implements necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies, procedures for serversExecutes and maintains Security Compliancy processes and policiesDevelops and maintains Server related standards, policies, and proceduresMentor team in the technology to allow them to be more knowledgably and self-sufficientReviews and analyzes performance metrics in order to optimize environment for efficienciesInvestigate and provide direction for administration of physical and virtualized servers using industry standard technologies Investigate and provide direction for administration of servers in lab environments that are physical and virtualized using industry standard technologiesResearches and troubleshoots Server technical issues and communicates status to Server team and stakeholdersIs involved with client's decision-making processInsures architecture is reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs anticipates future hardware/software needs to meet future business based on customer requirementsReviews and analyzes performance metrics in order to optimize environment for efficienciesIdentifies additional improvement and performance metricsWork with manager in understanding and optimizing team performanceAdvocates continuous process improvement Leads large sized leadershipDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical and non-technical staff, and IT leadershipAbility to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performance teamSuperior analytical and problem solving skillsDemonstrated ability to develop, implement and lead team plans for upgrades and system enhancementsDemonstrated ability to write policies, procedures, and create system documentationEnhanced troubleshooting skills within the Server OS as well as both networking and storage technologiesMust have hands-on experience developing, deploying and supporting large-scale enterprise server solutions Insures infrastructure is reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs Takes ownership of getting project deliverables done on schedule and within budgetLeadership ability to effectively motivate, guide and influence others to successful outcomesShows initiative on Server and servicesSubject Matter Expert (SME) for Physical and Virtual Server supportSubject Matter Expert (SME) of access, permissions and security that gives the clients the access to the data they need to perform their daily activitiesPREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
