BASIC FUNCTION:

Requiring an unusual blend of marketing, technical, and task management skills, this position will work with IT leaders to develop and enact strategic departmental communication plans. Responsibilities include working with department leads to define their area's individual communication goals and objectives; defining a plan for achieving those objectives; driving and assisting with the authoring of materials that support communication goals, including articles, electronic announcements, and slide presentations; and organizing and facilitating communication events such as webinars and other educational sessions. Qualified candidates must be capable of working with a department to understand its services, recognizing the value of those services to our customers, and independently articulating that value and relevant "selling points" in communications materials. Departments served by this function include Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Enterprise Services Portfolio, the Digital User Experience Team, and Governance & Operations. The individual able to succeed at this position will be able to understand the work done by these very technical departments, and then repackage that material in a way that is marketable and memorable; audience-focused wordsmithing is a key skill for success. An ability to utilize HTML and CSS to style articles on web pages is a definite plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Work with department leads to define business goals that can be achieved through communications.
* Define a custom communication strategy for each department, supported by a plan with dates.
* Drive the communication plan and the individuals involved.
* Assist with the creation of materials that support the communication plan.
* Organize and facilitate communication events.
* Work closely with customers to build relationships, and continuously gain a deeper understanding of their needs.
* Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
* Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.

Required Job Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience OR technical degree and 6 years work experience OR 8 years work experience.
* Clear and concise verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with all levels of management and employees, including developing and delivering presentations.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively simplify and articulate complex technical concepts to a wide audience.
* Demonstrated experience working closely with customers to build relationships.
* Ability to influence and execute effectively across multiple departments in a matrixed environment.
* Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and make trade-off decisions.
* Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
* Analytical thinking and consultative problem solving/consulting.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

* Experience creating and implementing a communication or public relations (PR) strategy.
* Ability to use HTML and CSS to style web-based articles and announcements.
