Job Description

Illumina is forming a new Customer Collaboration & Innovation (CCI) team that will transform the relationship between top-tier customers and our Product Development organization, and we are looking for a select set of individuals to join the team as Solution Architects and spearhead that transformation! The team will be working with a small number of Illumina's top customers to design and deploy workflow solutions that meet their business needs. Those solutions will span the complete genome sequencing space from sample accessioning and library prep, through sequencing and secondary analysis, and into tertiary analysis and reporting. The solutions will incorporate the best components that Illumina has to offer with the specific requirements of the customer in a seamless whole.

The Solution Architect will be a key part of the customer interface team for these top-tier customers and will be the point person representing the entire CCI team in technical discussions. As such, this person must be an excellent communicator and listener, able to interact with senior technical and business leaders at customer sites. They must also excel in collaboration, both with the customer contacts and with the regional account managers and customer support personnel that maintain the long-term relationship with those customers.

A successful applicant will have deep knowledge in one or more of Illumina's software and informatics products and a strong desire to develop a broad high-level understanding across the entire workflow space. The applicant must have a technical background and the ability to develop prototype workflows and components to achieve a customer's needs. They must also be able to translate customer needs into requirements for Illumina's development teams and champion the rapid implementation of those requirements through the development process.

The nature of the job will require occasional travel (10% or less) to customer sites for interaction meetings and on-site troubleshooting, prototyping, and deployment activities. The CCI team will be spread across the world, so there may also be a need for some off-hours interaction with colleagues in team meetings and other day-to-day forums.
