The Xbox Advanced Technology Group (ATG) provides deep technical consultation and integration services to game developers world-wide as they create cutting-edge experiences for Microsoft game platforms and services. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer with technical expertise in graphics performance optimization, GPU architectures, real-time rendering techniques, and HLSL shaders and texture compression. Game development experience is strongly preferred.

* At least 5 years of C++ professional experience
* Experience shipping AAA current generation games on console or PC
* Experience with compute, DX11, DX12, or 8th generation console GPU programming
* Graphics, mathematics, debugging, problem solving, and communication skills
* BSc degree or 4+ years of work experience
* Bonus qualifications: raytracing, machine learning, experience with Unity, Unreal or other AAA rendering engines

Primary responsibilities include working directly with game developers to understand and address their technical problems, researching and developing samples and white papers that illustrate advanced techniques, and collaborating with the Xbox software teams on new features. Other responsibilities include establishing excellent engineering practices, driving technical issues raised by both Microsoft Game Studios and external game developers with the appropriate teams across Microsoft, working closely with the developer relations group, and speaking at game development conferences.
