Your Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior GIS Analyst with our growing Water Resources team in the Laurel, Maryland office. Provide technical support which includes mapping applications, spatial analysis, and map production; report through a Project Technical Lead (PTL) on one or more projects or pursuits; support for our National FEMA Production and Technical Services (PTS) contract. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, outgoing, a quick learner, have strong written and verbal communication skills and a passion of GIS activities; will have the ability to be a team player who is comfortable working both independently and with multiple disciplines. Your Key Responsibilities

* Leads GIS team while working on projects.


* Work closely with designated Project Managers, acting as an internal point person for the group to coordinate technical support.


* Develops and creates GIS solutions with PTL to aide stakeholders, clients, and other users in understanding the relationships, patterns and trends of geospatial information.


* Develops GIS workflows for business operations.


* Participates in Client/Consultant meetings and resolves technical project issues.


* Completes tasks and delegates work to other team members as appropriate.


* Sets standards for procedures and aesthetics of aerial and mapping exhibits for business development purposes, especially site assessment exhibits.


* Trains and/or mentors junior staff in developing complex GIS technical skills, including creating aerials and mapping exhibits.


* Manages special projects including, but not limited to, web-based mapping.


* Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.


* Use GIS to develop quantities and exhibits needed for proposals.


* Design and create file geodatabases that employ topology, relationships, and domain classes.


* Create high quality maps adhering to cartographic standards and Quality Assurance / Quality Control processes and to specific client's Guidance and Specifications.


* Ability to think critically and outside the box.



Your Capabilities and Credentials

* Technical expert in all relevant areas of GIS, including geospatial analysis and queries.


* Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.


* Mastery of project scheduling and meeting deadlines.


* Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.


* Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.


* Knowledge of cartographic design, web-based map design and deployment, including some code writing.


* Proficient in GIS Platforms, HEC-RAS, and ESRI software suite including ArcGIS. This includes familiarity with SDE, ArcGIS Online, Collector for ArcGIS, and Survey 1-2-3 for ArcGIS.


* Ability to perform work accurately in a detail-oriented environment.


* Proactive and responsive when managing project risk(s).


* Expertise in GIS foundation principals and methods.


* Thoroughly understands data management principals, including database design, data archiving, metadata, and overall data organization.


* Able to understand and improve project or task level quality control procedures.


* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.


* Excellent time management awareness and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.


* Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.


* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.


* Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships.


* Familiar with floodplain mapping procedures.



Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in GIS or related discipline. Minimum of 7-8 years of experience.

Position will work in both a field and office setting.
