Senior Full Stack Web Developer

In this Capital One Software Engineering role, you will focus primarily on frontend development using modern JavaScript frameworks to build customer-centric applications based on Capital One's transaction data. Inevitably, you'll also be exposed to how C1 builds, tests and deploys mobile applications, highly-available RESTful microservices, and both imperative and functional programming backend systems. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and established technologies such as: Node.js, AngularJS/Angular, React, ES6+, Java, Python, REST, NoSQL/RDBMS, Elasticsearch, Jenkins, and AWS/Cloud infrastructure to name a few.

You will be guided by competent senior developers and managers, all of whom have veteran software engineering experience within the Capital One ecosystem in disciplines ranging from UI/UX, microservices, big data, and data streaming and analytics.

Your Responsibilities

* Work with product owners and designers to understand requirements, build features, and deliver capabilities.


* Use expertise of JavaScript and frontend frameworks to collaborate with developers, business partners, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of systems.


* Ensure adherence to team norms, coding and testing standards, and software design best practices.


* Write and deliver code that is test-driven, modular, scalable, and fault tolerant.


* In keeping with Capital One's YBYO (You Build It, You Own It) philosophy, establish and continue to improve engineering practices through the entire software development life cycle.


* Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies.


* Contribute to the development of multi-platform systems through local builds and CI/CD pipelines.



Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or military experience


* At least 2 years of software engineering experience


* At least 2 years of experience with JavaScript


* At least 2 years of experience with either Java in a J2EE environment or a middle tier language or framework such as Node.js, Scala or Ruby On Rails.



Preferred Qualifications

* A Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.


* Proficiency with UNIX/Linux and the command line.


* Hands-on coding skills in all tiers of web front end development: MVCs such as AngularJS/Angular or React, Webpack, Typescript, Node/Express, ES6+, component-based frameworks, asynchronous programming and CSS3.


* Comprehension of the power of npm on the command line and in package.json scripting.


* An understanding of advanced ES6 concepts like template literals, destructuring assignment, arrow functions, the spread operator, modules and promises.


* Working knowledge of how REST APIs are built, used and secured.


* Experience working with version control systems and code repository workflows.


* TDD/BDD best practices with tools like Chai, Mocha, Sinon and Supertest.


* Experience with CI/CD technologies like Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, Terraform and AWS.
